Bishop Gerasim to Visit on December 15!!
Notification in advance: we are pleased that His Grace Bishop Gerasim of Ft. Worth will be with us on Sunday, December 15. His visit will help mark St. Barbara’s 45th Anniversary. The 15th is during the Nativity Fast and is the Sunday of the Forefathers of Christ, preparing the faithful for the feast of our Lord’s birth.
A special theme and Lenten menu are being planned, but a sign-up sheet will also be posted for suggested sides, desserts and beverages.
Please mark your calendar for this special commemoration in the life of St. Barbara’s.
Many Blessed Years Fr. Vitaly Permiakov!!
On the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, September 14, at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary in New York, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon ordained the Rev. Deacon and Dr. Vitaly Permiakov to the Holy Priesthood. Fr. Vitaly’s mother Nadejda (a member of St. Barbara’s) and his sister Marina were able to be with him on that blessed day.
Fr. Vitali currently serves as Assistant Professor of Liturgical Theology at St. Vladimir’s. He has given several talks at St. Barbara’s, helping us, as well, during the Liturgy whenever he is in town. We wish him and his family many blessed years in service to our Lord! Congratulations!
Library Request:
Over the years we have received generous book donations for the Parish Library, and continue to do so. For these we are very grateful. Most books are available for check-out for a three-week period, except for reference books clearly marked. In light of the library’s popularity, we would ask people to please re-visit their home libraries to see if there may be St. Barbara Library books accidentally shelved. Thank you for your kind attention. We hope that everyone will continue to enjoy the resources available.
